Huguenot Bridge to Williams Island

After passing under the Huguenot Bridge, a few homes dot the bank on river left. These homes are in the floodplain and have various designs to withstand the occasional floods that characterize the James.

A short distance downstream from Huguenot Bridge, several islands appear. The largest of these at 95 acres is Williams Island, owned by the City. The only access to Williams Island is by boat.

At the upstream tip of Williams Island, we have a choice: we can paddle the north or the south side of the island. South of the island is the most commonly paddled route.
