- He Zhang’s paper, entitled "An Indoor Wayfinding Systems for the Visually Impaired", received Best Conference Paper Finalist Award at 2016 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Biomimetics. Congratulations to He!
- Dr. Ye received a grant from the NIH’s Coulter College Commer-cializing Innovation (C3i) Program. The grant (3R01EB018117-03S1) will allow his team to investigate the possibility of translating the co-robot cane technology from lab into market.
- Dr. Ye's research was featured at the Congressional Robotics Caucus at the Rayburn House Office Building, Washington DC.
- Dr. Ye was named Arkansas Research Alliance Fellow.
- Congratulation to Xiangfei Qian for receiving his PhD degree and joining HP Headquarters in Palo Alto, CA.
- Dr. Ye received $820,263 from the National Institutes of Health to develop a Wearable Object Manipulation Aid (W-ROMA) for the visually impaired. The project involves PI Dr. Yantao Shen at University of Nevada Reno.
- Dr. Ye received funding from the National Institutes of Health, as part of a $1,044,549 collaborative research project, to develop a Quadrupedal Human-Assistive Robotic Platform (Q-HARP) for the elderly. The project involves PIs at four universities and is led by Dr. Xiangrong Shen at University of Alabama.
- Welcome to Muhammad Emad and Xinyi Liu, the new IASL members (fall 2015). Muhammad got his MS in computer science from Univ. of Southern California in 2008. Xinyi recently got her BS in Automation from Sichuan University
- Congratulations to Soonhac Hong for successfully defending his Ph.D. dissertation. He joined Sharp Laboratories of America as a research engineer.
- Congratulations to Xiangfei Qian for his paper accepted for publication in IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics. (3/16/2014)
- Dr. Ye gave a spotlight talk at the first National Robotics Initiative PI Meeting (Oct 1-2, 2013. Hyatt Regency Crystal City, Arlington, VA).
- Dr. Ye received $365,570 from the National Institutes of Health to develop a co-robotic cane for the visually impaired. Dr. Ye's project is one of the three funded by the NIH in 2013.
- Dr. Ye received $750,000 research grant from NASA to investigate new computer vision methods for robot navigation using a Flash LIDAR camera.
- Dr. Ye received a $320,389 research grant from the National Science Foundation to develop computer vision methods for a portable blind navigational device for the visually impaired.
