Current Research
I gave a presentation (and a flash mob) at the National Art Education Association Conference last year (at the Higher Ed Luncheon). This is the way I described my new research. I hope it is succinct enough---and then just follow the eLASTIC link and see more!
"What I really want to do I think is……risk taking the lessons learned from my original/continuing hypertext/interactive computer research (that students who base their art study in learning in computer hypertext technologies, move their learning and knowing beyond the curriculum)-------to a new area of crucial importance to art education and that is assessment. So, what I am working on doing right now is replacing the hypertextual interface with recognizable metaphors and environments.... With the assistance of a Qatar National Research Grant---the software being developed for this purpose is called eLASTIC. Yes and I have used elastic before…, I really like the metaphor of the elastic band, rubber band… anything stretchy and flexible as I feel strongly that we need to risk continually pulling and stretching ourselves, our students, our art, indeed our very field of study….. "
Next, I hope to explore and develop data visualization processes that can sufficiently represent individualized learning and chart educational progress!
