INFO 202 Introduction to E-business Technologies

Introduces students to the technologies used in e-business. Students will be introduced to current or emerging Web languages, e-business suites, software packages, Web application servers and other packages used in creating and running Web applications.

Course Objectives

The following course objectives have been established for EBUS202. Under many of the objectives I have provided additional information about what we will be covering in this class to meet these objectives.

1. Be able to identify and utilize range of computing platforms involved in business systems Hardware categories, including routers Types of "servers" Apache, IIS, SQL Server, etc.


2. Be able to identify predominant programming languages and web technologies used in eBusiness. Browsers, xhtml, CSS, javascript, .asp and VB.NET and SQL Server will be used. Other technologies may be discussed


3. Be able to identify the meaning of basic networking and internetworking terminology Internet vs WWW, SSL, TCP/IP, ISPs, Internet protocols such as ftp, and http etc.


4. Be able to use standards-compliant methods to define colors and graphics and to be able to compare the tradeoffs involved in choosing graphical elements for web pages JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, formats color and pixels resolution and compression


5. Be able to identify the meanings of basic Object Oriented programming terminology.


6. Be able to use the most fundamental programming concepts: variables, assignment operators, comparison operators, arithmetic operators, sequence, selection and iteration and functions.


7. Be able to create a simple standards-compliant web site that processes user input using a novice-level scripting language javascript and VB.NET will be used in this class


8. Understand concepts related to user sessions and be able to create pages that use simple session management techniques VB.NET session management will be used in this class

9. Be able to create dynamic content for web pages by accessing simple data base tables using SQL SQL Server?will be the primary database
