Responsible for course content, assigning and monitoring lectures, collecting syllabus material and test questions, faculty evaluation and responding to student evaluations of the course. The Medical Pharmacology course consists of a full-time 2-week course “Principles of General and Autonomic Pharmacology” in late July, followed by pharmacology lectures integrated into the remaining 10 different courses in the second year of medical school, which ends in May. The Pharmacology course director must coordinate with each of the other 10 course directors and must read every second year medical student test in its entirety to identify pharmacology-related questions submitted by pharmacology department participating faculty as well as non-pharmacology department faculty. The pharmacology course syllabus itself is 600+ pages long. During this period of service, the Medical School Pharmacology course was the first course in the School of Medicine to use a uniform outline, format and graphics for its syllabus. There are approximately 350 pharmacology test questions in the second year of medical school, which is approximately 25% of the total exam questions in the second year of medical school. The second year medical school class consists of 190 students.
