Time Estimate | Photos |
4/18/04 | Cut and installed framing aft of bulkhead 6, some of the seat framing, and the floor boards around the center board trunk in the cockpit. | 7 hrs |
|
5/1/04 | Worked in the area forward of bulkhead 1 today.
Filled in the seams with epoxy and chopped strand fiberglass and taped the
seams and the bulkhead to hull joint with 4-inch biaxial tape, also
covering all ply surfaces with epoxy. Later in the afternoon I applied a
second epoxy coat, this time with white pigment mixed in the resin. The
intent of the white pigment is to lighten up these enclosed areas without
the need for painting. Working up here is awkward at best.
Also cut and fit the carlines, including notching bulkhead 4 and frame 5. |
6 hrs | |
5/2/04 | Applied final coat of pigmented epoxy to
forepeak area. The pigment works fairly well.
Cut the ply for the aft quarters aft of bulkhead 6. Masked the portions that will be glued later and applied first coat of epoxy to inside surfaces and the edges of the plywood that will not be sanded down later. |
4 hrs | |
5/3/04 | Applied second coat of epoxy, pigmented. | 1 hrs
5/8-9/04 | Taped starboard side hull interior. Applied 3 layers of epoxy. Top two layers were pigmented. | 12 hrs
5/15-16/04 | Taped port side hull; applied 3 layers of pigmented epoxy. Made and installed breast hook. Cut vent holes in bulkhead 6. Cut and glued up clamshell parts. | 15 hrs
6/6/04 | Cut ply for outboard drain well, seat fronts, tops, and backs, and side decks by the cockpit. Cut stringer notches in bulkheads and molds in cabin. Set molds 2 and 3 in place in the cabin. | 8 hrs
6/7-8/04 | Applied epoxy to inside of seat fronts and side decks, masking off the areas that were to be glued onto stringers later. | 2 hrs
6/12/04 | Applied epoxy to bottom of drain well floor, seat tops and seat backs. Installed seat fronts and side decks - filleted both inside joints of the gunwale and the inside of the seat front to the bottom using epoxy thickened with silica and 1/4 inch chopped strand. Filleted rudder box to bottom using 6 oz glass. Cut and fit cabin carlins. | 10 hrs
6/19/04 | Cut and fit cabin sides and foredecks, cabin top stringers. | 6 hrs
6/20/04 | Finished fitting cabin sides. Epoxied inside of cabin sides and fore deck pieces, again masking areas to be glued. Top coat of epoxy was pigmented to lighten up the cabin. | 6hrs
