- Comments
- Radiochemical purity must be greater than 80%.
- ITLC approach
- MEK and Saline can be used with two separate strips to determine radiochemical purity or
- Whatman#1 can be used by itself, however, caution must be taken into account when cutting the strips to separate the bound HM-PAO
- Another QC approach - Phase Separation Technique:
- Mix in a test tube:
- 2-3 mL of ethyl-acetate.
- 2-3 mL of 0.9% NaCl.
- Add several drops of the Tc-99m-HM-PAO.
- Cap the tube.
- Vortex for approximately 1 minute.
- Allow the phases to separate (approximately 1 minute).
- Transfer the top layer (ethyl acetate layer) to a separate test tube.
- Measure the activity in both layers.
- Determine the percent radiochemical purity:
