Our desire was to do something different and memorable. The ceremony
itself was performed by Captain Michael Bagley.
We wanted a very small service, here are the ship's crew, the ship's
captain Helmut Hawkins, Lisa, Curtis, and Captain Bagley.
Here we are after the service with the lovely waters of Chesapeake Bay in
the background. It was a sunny day with a bit of wind and the sailboats
were out to take advantage of it.
We had originally planned on being married that Friday, but the 30
MPH wind gusts convinced us to delay until Sunday. While the day was
sunny, it was also November and windy. After the ceremony and a few shots,
a warm coat was definitely in order.
This shot looking from the fore of the boat is one of the better ones
showing the ship. The romantic interplay of sails and ropes gives
sailboats a mystique that can never be replaced by motorboats.
No wedding, seaward or otherwise, would be complete without a champagne
toast. Aristotle and Jackie had nothing on us.
Then we slipped into more casual clothes to enjoy the rest of our journey,
which included Annapolis Harbor and the Chesapeake Bay. Here we stand on
the bowsprit with the dome of the beautiful chapel at the Naval Academy in
the background.
And with the stress of wedding planning behind us, we were able to kick
back, hang our feet overboard and just watch the beautiful landscape in
wedded bliss.
And They Lived Happily Ever After...
