ÒThe Three Problems.Ó
Abstract
The ancient Greeks are famous
for, among countless other innovations, their advances in the field of
geometry. Early geometers were limited by unsophisticated tools, and faced
several problems that they found impossible to solve. Specifically, there are three problems that have become
especially well known: The Trisection Problem, Squaring the Circle, and
Duplication of the Cube. We will
explore the specifics of these questions, their solutions, and the effects the
questions have had on mathematics.
