What are the Chances?
Abstract: We will explore the answers to some interesting
real world problems using probability theory. We will find out the
probability that a pair of people in a group of have the same birthday, as
well as a variation of that problem that asks what is the probability that
someone in a group of people is celebrating their birthday today. We will
also take a look at Simpson’s paradox and the Prosecutor's fallacy, which
show some famous examples of misusing data.
