002.1 Phases of the Moon
The Full Moon rises when the Sun sets and sets when the Sun rises. It is visible all night.
In which direction would you expect to see the Full Moon at sunset? How about at midnight?
-
The Full Moon is in the opposite direction from the Sun, so you will see it rising in the East when the Sun is setting in the West. At midnight, the Full Moon should be directly South and at its highest point in the sky.
