"Paper Bag Series" 2002 This series challenged the idea that the eyes are the window to the soul in portraits. I wanted to see if a effective portrait could exhist without access to the subjects eyes and therefore "soul." I feel that these characters still maintain their personalities and can still be related to by the viewer in some ways, though not the traditional ways that one thinks of when discussing portraiture. |

"Book Sculpture Series" 2002 This series contains a found object (a book sculpture) and a series of other objects. My intent with this series was to play with the scale of the objects and experiment with different types of lighting techniques. Some of the pieces are more narrative, while some of the pieces are more about composition and subject. I feel that the results are varied, each having a story of their own to tell. |
