BIOGRAPHY
Joseph Walsh came to VCU in
1993 and teaches courses in generalist practice, clinical practice, human
behavior, research, and social theory. His research interests include clinical
social work practice, psychopharmacology, and mental illness.
Joe has been a direct service
practitioner in the mental health field for many years; first in a psychiatric
hospital and later in community mental health center settings. He has provided
services to older adult and general outpatient populations, but has mostly
specialized in services to persons with serious mental illness and their
families. Joe continues to provide direct services to clients at the University
Counseling Center and also at area shelters, clubhouses, and group homes.
