Requires the State Board of Elections to have random audits conducted of at least 50 percent of the candidate campaign committees for the offices of Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General and of at least 10 percent of the candidate campaign committees for the General Assembly. Introduced by Delegate S. Chris Jones, R-Suffolk. Continued (delayed) to 2001 on a 22-1 vote by the House Committee on Privileges and Elections.

Includes the requirement that the State Board of Elections review the campaign finance reports of candidates for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General and 10 percent of the candidates for the General Assembly selected at random. Introduced by Jones. Defeated in the Senate Committee on Privileges and Elections on a 4-9 vote, after many amendments were attached.

• Senate Bill 1276 -- Campaign Finance Disclosure Act; record retention requirements and reviews of campaign finance disclosure reports. Senate counterpart to HB 2324. Introduced by Sen. Frank W. Wagner, R-Virginia Beach. Was stricken (removed) by Wagner during the Senate Committee on Privileges and Elections.

Provides that the State Board of Elections shall review the campaign finance reports of candidates for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General and 10 percent of the candidates for the General Assembly selected at random. Introduced by Jones. Continued to 2003 on a 23-2 vote by the House Appropriations Committee.
