Tracey Wainwright's bio

As a senior at Virginia Commonwealth University, I plan to graduate in the spring with a journalism degree and a minor in political science. In high school, I covered local events and sports for the Tidewater Review. While in college, I interned at WRIC-TV8 as an assistant to the station's Web master and wet my feet in politics as an aide in Lt. Gov. John Hager's office. I earned a copy-editing internship with the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund, through which I worked at The Gazette in Colorado Springs for a summer. I reported for the business section of the Richmond Times-Dispatch and served as editor of the student-published issues of the Hard Times, our local homeless newspaper. All the while, I work on the campus paper, the Commonwealth Times, as managing editor and lead the VCU chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists as president.
