I was raised as a military brat – always interested in international issues. Although my major coursework at VCU is in journalism, I'm completing a minor in Asian studies and learning the Russian language. Last summer, I worked as a copy editor at the Middletown, N.Y., Times-Herald Record through a Dow Jones Newspaper Fund internship. The Record, which went through a major redesign during my time there, has a daily circulation of 85,000 and a Sunday circulation of 100,000. I've also served as associate news editor for two semesters at my college paper, the Commonwealth Times.
