The Simple Past Tense
The simple past tense expresses an action that was completed in the
past.
Example 9.1

enti genjruKw You slept (Singular)
gaim mihrotl feruKw Gaim went to school
ent=B9n QaldnuKw You saw (Plural)
yn AwtitnuKwn We succeeded
naw sabiniKw They praised
The verb agrees with the subject (person) and the suffixes are:
1st Person Singular -Kun (Kwn)
2nd Person Singular -ruKw or duKw
3rd Person Singular (masc.) -uKw or iKw
3rd Person Singular (Fem.) -ti
1st Person Plural -nuKwn
2nd Person Plural -dnuKw
3rd Person Plural -nuKw
Example 9.2
The simple past tense of the verb enkelna, to love.
1st Person Singular enkelKun I loved
2nd Person Singular enkelduKw You loved
3rd Person Singular (masc.) enkeluKw He loved
3rd Person Singular (Fem.) enkelti She loved
1st Person Plural enkelnuKwn We loved
2nd Person Plural enkeldnuKw You loved
3rd Person Plural enkelnuKw They loved
The suffixes in the present tense end in kun ekw etc. (see Lesson 8)
while they change to Kw in the simple past tense.
k ------> K and kw -------> Kw.
