A spermatocyte soon to divide,
Arrested the process, and cried:
      "Pray, give the last unction,
      I've had nondisjunction!"
(His aneuploid progeny died)

An XX remarked with a sigh,
"I wonder why I even try,
      To put all my eggs
      In one basket with legs --
I ask myself,... and answer, Y?

The monk with peas wrinkled and green
Worked pond’ring mechanics unseen
     And when he was done
     They were 9 3 3 1
All unlinked (or they’d be his cuisine)

To understand what's epistasis
You don't have to know well the basis
      You should know how it feels
      To have genes (not alleles)
Interact (or whatever the case is)

The fangs of a monster (impressive)     
Were caused by an X-linked recessive.   
      So the teeth of his daughters     
      Were big as an otter's,           
But his sons' were like yours, more or lessive.*

A chromatid noticed a band
That had slowly begun to expand
      "I'll be, if they fatten,
      All heterochromATin!
