(please press SUBMIT button when finished)
Spring 2007

I. Basic Information

A. Your name
II. Search for FMRP
A. Do you recall why locating a Drosophila version of FMRP might be of some use in understanding the basis of Fragile X Syndrome?

B. How's your progress in finding a gene in Drosophila similar to FMRP?

C. How comfortable in looking for genes and proteins through the NCBI website?

D. How comfortable are you with using Blast to find genes and proteins?

E. Do you understand why the indirect approach (use the human protein to find the fly protein to get to the fly gene) worked but the direct approach (use the human gene to find the fly gene) did not?

Comments for II:
Search for FMRP of RNA

III. Mapping and Loops

A. How comfortable are you with the notion of mapping?

B. How comfortable are you recognizing when mapping occurs implicitly in BioBIKE functions?

C. How comfortable are making a function map or not map if both choices make sense?

D. How comfortable are you with the notion of explicit mapping?

E. How comfortable are you with the mechanics of doing explicit mapping?

F. How comfortable are you with the notion of loops? (I should say that unless you've encountered loops before, I would expect them to be very mysterious at the moment)

D. Choose up to five study questions that you would most like discussed in class:
