Logistics
- Time and audience
In class on Tuesday, October 1, you will have about 6 minutes to present a summary of a published experiment key to your own proposal or translation
Plan your presentation to be intelligible to an audience of your peers.
- Visual aids
You should have visual aids large enough that they can be understood from a distance of about six feet.
Try them out! Can you make sense out of the aids from six feet away?
- Where
The visual aids will be taped to a wall. You'll have about six feet (width) of wall to work with.
- Cost
Zero. Don't spend money on this -- no big glossy posters. Simple sheets of paper will do, if the images and words are big enough.
Content (for more, try How to write a summary and How to give a presentation focused on an experiment)
- Explanation of the big picture
What large question is your proposal or chosen article addressing?
- Connection to small picture
How does the big picture connect to the actual experiment you intend to propose or to one of the experiments you intend to translate? Point out how it is an example of a problem concerning how a phenomenon works at the molecular level.
- Explanation of the experiment
Describe the nature of the proposed experiment or one experiment you will translate. Help your audience understand the principle behind the methods used.
