On presentation day, you will have about 6 minutes to present progress on your proposal or translation to a collection of your peers.
You should have visual aids large enough that they can be understood from a distance of about six feed.
The visual aids will be taped to a wall. You'll have about six feet (width) of wall to work with.
Don't spend money on this -- no big glossy posters. Simple sheets of paper will do, if the images and words are big enough.
You might prepare your presentation and visual aids as follows:
- Explanation of the big picture
What large question is your proposal or chosen article addressing?
- Connection to small picture
How does the big picture connect to the actual experiment you intend to propose or to one of the experiments you intend to translate? Point out how it is an example of a problem concerning how a phenomenon works at the molecular level.
- Explanation of the experiment
Describe the nature of the proposed experiment or one experiment you will translate. Help your audience understand the principle behind the methods used.
