Gödel, Escher, and Bach (Spring 2001)
Course at a Glance: Quizzes
What are they? When are they?
-
There will be an on-line quiz prior to almost every class.
-
They ask you about relatively straightforward aspects of
the reading.
-
They also ask for feedback on what's giving you problems.
-
Please take them no later than 9:00 AM each class day.
Why are they?
-
They encourage you to keep on track in the reading, which
makes class discussions a whole lot more useful.
-
They provide us insight as to which areas are causing the
most consternation, which allows us to plan class time in a way that will
do the most people the most good.
Grading of quizzes
-
To reward your diligence, you will be given one point for
every quiz you take, to be applied to the next exam.
-
The maximum number of points is N-1, where N is the total
number of quizzes.
-
Since late quizzes don't do us much good, only those turned
in before the deadline will be counted.
