Quick steps to start running WinBUGS 1) Highlight 'model' at the start of the model code. 2) Go to 'model/specification' and click 'check model'. At the bottom left of the window, what pops up is 'model is syntactically correct'. 3) Highlight 'list' in the data list and click 'load data'. At the bottom left of the window, what pops up is 'data loaded'. 4) Highlight 'list' in the initial values list, and click 'load inits'. Click 'gen inits', if you find that some initial value specification is missing. 5) For each variable you’d like to analyze, go to 'inference/sample', enter the name of the variable in the 'nodes' box, and click 'set'. Samples of variables you don’t request to record are automatically discarded. Note: You can do this step after running the chains for some length, or you can do that immediately after Step 4. 6) Start generating samples by going to 'model/update', and click 'update'. 7) When the MCMC sampling is completed, go back to 'inference/sample' to view summaries of the posterior.
