Chaminda Fernando
is originally from Sri Lanka. He received his BSc. in
Microbiology from University of Maryland, College park,
Maryland in 2001. He graduated from Virginia
Commonwealth University School of Medicine with a
Master’s degree in Physiology in 2005, where he worked
on identifying the PLA2 responsible
for prostanoid synthesis in response to inflammatory
cytokines.
Chaminda has been
accepted to A. T. Still University, Kirksville College
of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, MO. He will
graduate in 2010 with the aspiration of specializing in
emergency medicine.
In his spare time, Chaminda volunteers as an EMT and his hobbies include
dancing, listening to music, raring marine fish and
invertebrates, playing rugby and cricket, and practicing
aikido.
