EPID 690: General Epidemiology Methods Journal Club

Course Description:

This course discusses General Epidemiology Methods as it relates to formulating study questions, study design and data analyses. Key conceptual and methodological issues, as well as epidemiologic principles of study design and analysis will be illustrated with selected articles.

Course Objectives:

By the end of the course students should

  1. Have the ability to evaluate and interpret a body of work including an appraisal of the methodology and a critique of the interpretation of the results with reference to the hypothes is presented as the rationale for the study / experiments
  2. Be able to defend and justify interpretation and integrate the perspective of colleagues

Course Format:

Course sessions will consist of discussions of articles. Student participation is essential for this class.

Grading:

This course is graded on a pass/fail basis.
