My name is Arthur Reber and I am a Research Associate Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University. My research focuses on developing conceptual models that allow for the intuitive understanding of properties at the nanoscale, especially metallic nanoparticles and clusters. My goal is to use theoretical and computational methods to develop organizing principles that allow for the complex array of interactions that occur at the nanoscale to be understood in a logical and conceptual manner. This work includes applications to catalysis, especially on particles supported on complex surfaces, and the development of new cluster assembled materials, and magnetic interactions.  I received my Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in physical chemistry and my advisor was R. Stephen Berry, and followed up with a postdoc with Shiv Khanna at Virginia Commonwealth University.
